Ilmenite to open titanium concentrate plant in July–September

MOSCOW, Apr 21 (PRIME) -- Ore mining and processing enterprise Ilmenite plans to launch the first stage of titanium concentrate production in the Tomsk Region in July–September, the Russian government said in a statement on Wednesday.

Preliminary calculations show that development of the Tuganskoye titanium and zircon field should allow Russia to produce 2.3% of the world’s combined output of zircon concentrate and 1.3% of the world’s output of titanium concentrate.

The country would be able to substitute imports of 100% of zircon concentrates and 90% of titanium concentrates, the government said.
